What’s an Integrative Health Practitioner?

As a Board Certified Integrative Health Practitioner (IHP) and a Holistic Health Coach, I believe in all forms of medicine and healing, and that each has something to offer. I use different modalities including Ayurvedic medicine, traditional Chinese Medicine, Orthomolecular Medicine, Functional Medicine, Bioregulatory Medicine, and Eastern philosophies.

The real difference is my ability to assess state of the art functional medicine lab testing to let us know what precisely is going on within your body. IHP’s get to the root cause of your symptoms, rather than just temporary treating your symptoms. I do not diagnose, treat or cure disease but rather rebalance the body naturally by removing toxicities and replacing deficiencies for you to achieve optimal health.

As an IHP, I create wellness plans that are unique to each person and his/her own needs, goals and health concerns. We focus on a “DESTRESS” protocol looking at you and your whole story:

D - Diet
E - Exercise
S - Stress
T - Toxins
R - Rest
E - Emotions
S - Supplements
S - Success Mindset

How Laura can help!

  1. Consistency: 80% of people who make health goals break them (or make such extreme changes they end up yo-yoing).  Laura will show you how to make small changes that will build up to a lifetime of good health. Laura will help you build your health bank account and be consistent over time which will net lasting results.

  2. Clarity and Education. Maybe you don’t understand why you’ve gained weight, lost energy, or feel depressed. Or you feel like you can't figure out what to do to see the results you want. Laura will help you gain clarity over your individual situation, root causes and identify the best route towards a solution.

  3. Get to the root case of health concerns: As an Integrative Health Practitioner, Laura can provide you with at home functional medicine lab tests to get to the root cause of your health concerns and address in order to remove toxicities and replace any deficiencies within the body. Functional medicine lab tests include food sensitivity testing, adrenal, hormone and thyroid testing , stool testing for bacteria and parasites, omega 3 testing for inflammation markers, hair tissue mineral analysis and organic acids tests.

  4. Objectivity: Laura can look at you objectively and give you an honest assessment without the cognitive dissonance we all possess when it comes to our own lifestyle and health. Asking your sister or best friend is not the same – a third party who doesn't have ties to your personal life can give you unbiased honesty and thoughts.

  5. Individualization: Each individual is different and general health recommendations do not work. Your health is unique to you, and a coach can help you customize your goals in accordance with your unique lifestyle needs. Laura will provide you with a personalized health & lifestyle plan.

  6. Goal oriented: We all have our own goals that we strive to achieve. Laura can be your guide to helping you reach them. Many books and websites will TELL you what your goals should be and how to reach them but this may not work for you. A coach can help you set clear individual and big-picture goals. You may want to lose fat, gain muscle, reduce stress, run faster, reduce inflammation, lower cholesterol, or live more positively. Instead of looking at each goal as separate, a coach can look at the forest instead of each individual tree and come up with a plan as well as ways to assess progress.

  7. Accountability: There is great value in accountability. Laura fills this role. Knowing you have a call with your health coach that will ask about your positive diet intentions, keeps it at the front of your mind.
